Delicate Japanese plates in the silt.We had morning tea at Eten Island, then headed up the western coast of Dublon Island to the Kansho Maru. This freighter is 116 metres long and lies upright in 40 metres in the old repair anchorage. The holds are empty because the ship was under repair at the time of the attack. We
swam past the forward kingposts to the bow gun, then around the forecastle where
there were some cables. We swam back to the superstructure and explored some
rooms but I was unable to find the engine room skylights. I then headed toward
the stern passing over the lifting gear and derricks. I entered the sterncastle,
saw the steering gear and exited through a jagged hole in the stern.
